Annita wrote a cute journal entry yesterday about going to the grocery store with the kids and her daughter playing her little rhyming game while they waited at the deli counter. Katerina came up with a really good one... pee pee/sleepy. I asked Annita if I could use it in a poem (as long as I gave her little girl props for the awesome rhyme), and she said sure.
I started writing a sweet little poem about Ellie's day, but it just wasn't working. This is because I don't write rhyming poems. In fact, I pretty much suck at them.
So I'm gonna try again here, no pen, no paper, Just me and the keyboard. Maybe if I keep it short, it won't be so bad.
Ellie's Day
G'morning, Sweetpea, had a good rest?
Let's change your diapie, then get dressed.
Off to the kitchen, hurry, hurry up--
Let's get some milk, where is your cup?
Mmmm, breakfast, Cheerios, toast;
We like the cinnamon and raisin kind most.
Now that you've had something to eat,
Look! It's time for Sesame Street.
Mommy's gonna warm up the car, stay right there.
Ok, here's your coat, oh, let's comb your hair.
Into your carseat, snap, one, two.
Ready to roll? Where is your shoe?
Here we are at Teri's, ready to play?
I love you, honey; see you later today.
You play and you eat and then you get sleepy,
You sing and you dance and then you go pee pee.
A little while later and Daddy is there.
You always have so many things to share.
The two of you wait for Mommy, so sweet.
I come home and cook dinner for us to eat.
Then we play and laugh and dance and sing
Then it's BATHTIME, let's clean up all these things.
We wash and we splash and we dry and we dress,
Then cozy up and cuddle, which I like the best.
When the milk is all done it's time to brush your teeth
And then you finally rest your head for a good night's sleep.
G'night, Darlin', G'night My Love;
Tonight you'll be what I'm dreaming of.
Eh, not to bad for 10 minutes worth of writing. I can deal.
