Killer Courts

I have always been more of a boot girl but I have been thinking about the party season that is really only just around the corner and I was thinking about a pair of courts shoes to go with my party outfit this year. I have found some gorgeous ones at Spartoo. They all have an amazing killer heel with the must have platform and those peep toe ones by Steve Madden have to be my favorite especially as I am particial to a few studs or two.

These courts shoes would look stunning teamed with skinny leather trousers or a LBD and I am sure will also get lots of wear after the party season.

If you are looking for something different and dont want black these ones by Morgan have a rose corsage finshed with a zip edge for a twist or how about these grey suede ones by Pura Lopez with their unusual platform and tiny well placed studs.

Dress ebay, Jacket Gerard Darel, Boots Stefenal, Rosary Primark

I totally forgot about this leather look dress I won it on ebay last year. It is so hard to wear a leather look dress without looking a little tarty. I decided to play with it and teamed it with a leopard print jacket I thought it would be too much but with black tights and contrasting heels it worked.

Oh btw this is my spare bedroom that I am also in the middle of decorating once this is finished I can move the furniture from the other spare room which will be my dressing room and then I will be finished thought the exposed plaster and distressed look of the room would make a good backdrop????

You like me, you really like me!

I got an award last week and totally flaked on my thank you. Ass. So without further ado...

I have been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award from Jess over at Ramblings of an Emotional Idiot. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The rules are to thank my benefactor, give you 7 juicy tidbits about myself, and tagging a shload of people. But I'z gonna break the rulez. I no tag. I lame, I know.

Anyway, the 7:

1. I am left-handed. Did you know that?
2. I cannot drive a stick shift.
3. I cannot swim.
4. I am far-sighted.
5. I have never broken a bone.
6. I remember vowing that I would "ALWAYS love Madonna's music." That makes me chuckle.
7. I am a type A (nooooo! really?)

That was the most boring 7 list ever!

Field trips and charity work and baking, oh my!

My weekend was filled with baking and charity work and all-things-Ellie. It was wonderful. We started off on Friday with Ellie's field trip to the pumpkin patch. Dude, so much fun! El and I had a great time. 12 parents chaperoned! All together we had 16 adults adn 24 kids. That's quite the ratio! The kids and adults both had an excellent time. It was freakin' freezing, but luckily, I came prepared with hoods and gloves for me and my little shadow.

El was stuck to me like white on rice from the moment I walked in the door. All the other kids were busy still talking to each other while their parents stood in the background of classroom. Not my kid! We're going through another phase of separation anxiety for sure, but I must admit I love that she wants to be near me.

We rode the bus (without seatbelts - yikes!) and it was a lot bumpier than I remember busrides back in the day. We took a tractor ride, picked out our pumpkins, fed the animals (those goats are persistent! one actually got out of the pen!), then had a picnic lunch before heading back on the bus once again to school. When we got back, Ellie pleaded to come home with me, but I had to go to work to help finish setting up for our 1st ever Haunted House at my company. I promised her she'd see me and get to go trick or treating in just a few hours, but one of the teachers still had to pry her off me.

(Ellie's Pumpkin. The girl LOVES stickers)

The Haunted House was a HUGE success! We had so much fun setting up our room (each dept had their own room to decorate and the winning dept got a $200 gift card to a local restaurant). We went with a pumpkin patch theme at the front of the room and sectioned off the back for our "Mad Scientist" section for the older kids. We had pumpkin decorating, cupcake decorating, a professional photographer set up in the corner, the works! People kept coming back to our room after they saw all the others. Ellie had a blast. And... my team won! Woot woot.

The Haunted House was just one of the many fundraisers we've had at our office the past 5 weeks for Breast Cancer Awareness. My company raised $6500 this year, and we ranked #2 overall. Not too shabby. We've been #1 in the past, but the Hamden Public School System beat us this year with $8000. That's pretty incredible for this economy.

The walk for Breast Cancer Awareness was yesterday, and although parking and traffic was atrocious, the walk itself was lovely and inspiring. Harry and Ellie joined me this year, and we all had a wonderful time. This will be something we do as a family for years to come for sure. The turnout was insane! And lucky for us, the weather was really nice.

Besides the walk, I also had a wedding shower to go to last night, so I was baking cookies all Saturday for the walk and the shower. Call me Betty Crocker.

Lace Up

It is amazing how many footwear trends there are around at the moment. One that I invested in a couple of years ago and believe me I hunted high and low for is the lace up boot. Luckily they are a lot easier to find now than they were about four years ago. There is also a lot more different styles to pick from now. I have found a few funky styles from Spartoo. I love the furry hiking boot by Tropeziennes the fur is on trend and gives the boot a warm cosy feel perfect for winter teamed with chunky knit socks. I love these heeled trainers by Ash I could imagine these teamed with harems trousers in the winter and shorts in the summer. The military boot is still going strong and I love a heel these ones by One Step are perfect and I love the large ankle strap finishes the boot off perfectly.

Photobucket

If you want an alternative to laces these boots by Lollipops are perfect they have swapped laces for straps that lace up the full length of the boot.

All these boots are available on Spartoo

Maxi Dress H&M, Fur Jacket Next, Boots Topshop, Hat Stefenal

I really want the Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots but due to funding and the fact that no where in the UK stocks them I have kind of given up on the idea and then I remembered I has these wedges from Topshop and decided that they are a good alternative. I love that this maxi dress from summer can be updated by throwing a piece of knitwear over it.

Inspired by Nature

I love shoes don't we all they are a great way to change an outfit always cheer you up on a shopping trip as your shoe size never changes like a dress size. I also love that there are so many styles to choose from. One of my favorites styles is shoes inspired by nature I am talking about animal prints I have picked a few of my favorites from Spartoo. I love leopard print as you are all aware but I am also partial to a bit of snake skin and I think this will be a big trend for Spring Summer 10 thanks to Burberry.

Photobucket

Leopard Print Boot by Ravel Leopard Print Pump by Pedro Miralles

I love how an animal skins change the look of an everyday boot giving them a more edgy look. Take these military boots that we have all been rocking this past year and the style is still going strong make them in a crocodile skin and they instantly become more edgy and unusual.

Crocodile Skin Boot by Espace Snake Skin Cowboy Boot by Tropeziennes

I love these boots by Irregular choice they are totally inspired by nature how cute is the kitten brooch and the snake skin finish gives this otherwise cute boot a harder twist.

Trousers Thifted, Top TK Maxx, Jacket Gerard Darel, Boots Nine West
So I have had a bit of a style rut some of my wardrobe is now on eBay and more will be going on these next couple of weeks and hopefully soon I will start work on decorating my dressing room so a clear out will be happening as I sort out my wardrobe. Roberto Cavalli collections never fail me and I have to say that his A/W10 collection is beautiful and has totally inspired my A/W wardrobe and after finding these lace trousers in a local charity shop (at last a decent find) I decided to use these as the base of my Cavalli inspired outfit.

His collection has everything I love animal print, lace, fur, brocade and lots of clashing of fabrics and textures. Check the full collection out for yourselves here
